Lion's Gate Trail

We had such a fun morning today.  It was an absolutely beautiful day, so we hopped on the bikes and rode up to a nature preserve we just learned about called Lion's Gate.
This was entrance and the boys were so excited.  We had no idea what we were going to encounter, but we knew it was right on the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan.

This was more toward the end of hiking.  We made it all the way down to the Lake and for a good hour all three of the boys threw rocks into the lake.  I will confess that I did it too, but it is such a fun fascination for the boys.

This was at the top of the bluff.  You can see how far up we were from the lake.  Micah didn't always quite understand how far was too far (for mom) to lean over the edge.  Couple times I nearly made him fall from yelling BE CAREFUL

And, this was how the hike ended...good thing the boys didn't need to ride their bikes home.

On another note..there are times when your kids say things that make you so proud that they were listening to you.  Usually it's when they remember to say thank you without having to be reminded, but this week it was a whole different level of proud for me. Micah and Noah were coloring in the kitchen and this was the conversation
Micah to Noah: "What's Tutu?"
Noah said : "Desmond Tutu"
I was making dinner at the time with my back to the boys, with a big smile I said,
"Noah do you know who Desmond Tutu is?"
His reply: "Yeah, he's the guy in Africa, right?"

They truly are sponges...I told him about Desmond Tutu about two months ago because I was reading about him and he asked who the man on the cover was...WOW!

Enjoy...

It seems the days go by so fast...here are a few recents.
This never gets old.  I love my family.

This bear is older than Micah.  I think I was five when I got him from Grandpa and Grandma Withrow when I got my tonsils out.  We still call him Fred.

These boys truly love being with each other.
Is this really coming back?  I'm not sure I'm ready.  Micah is however.

The 80s called and they'd like their "shades" back.

Early Mother's Day

Noah's preschool class had a special Mother's Day Program at school today.  I was lucky enough to be able to take the afternoon off  (thanks to wonderful supervisors!) and spend the day with my boys....and some friends I don't get to hang out with nearly enough anymore.  It was such a fun day.

Noah's class has six boys and one girl.  I think in this picture they are singing about Springtime and the butterflies that come out.  These are two of his buddies, Marky (in the middle) and Evan on the right.
This picture is of the whole class...
This is a cute video of a song they learned about FALL...

After school, we hung out with our friends the Webers (both sets) and the French's.  This makes for six boys and two girls...however Madeline wasn't feeling well, so it was mostly a lot of boy time...
I'm not really sure what they were doing here, but it was funny to me
He just keeps growing up!!!
I snapped this just after telling him that this wasn't a good decision and it seemed like a "safety violation"...a new phrase from Lou and Lou Safety Patrol that we've picked up around our house.
Checking out the local Cedarburg bugs...lady bugs to be precise.

And just before the rain started to fall, the evening was topped off with pizza and strawberries!  What a fun group...the great part is, they all really enjoy being together and playing...as to the parents so it works out for all of us!
