This was entrance and the boys were so excited. We had no idea what we were going to encounter, but we knew it was right on the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan.
This was more toward the end of hiking. We made it all the way down to the Lake and for a good hour all three of the boys threw rocks into the lake. I will confess that I did it too, but it is such a fun fascination for the boys.

This was at the top of the bluff. You can see how far up we were from the lake. Micah didn't always quite understand how far was too far (for mom) to lean over the edge. Couple times I nearly made him fall from yelling BE CAREFUL
And, this was how the hike ended...good thing the boys didn't need to ride their bikes home.
On another note..there are times when your kids say things that make you so proud that they were listening to you. Usually it's when they remember to say thank you without having to be reminded, but this week it was a whole different level of proud for me. Micah and Noah were coloring in the kitchen and this was the conversation
Micah to Noah: "What's Tutu?"
Noah said : "Desmond Tutu"
I was making dinner at the time with my back to the boys, with a big smile I said,
"Noah do you know who Desmond Tutu is?"
His reply: "Yeah, he's the guy in Africa, right?"
They truly are sponges...I told him about Desmond Tutu about two months ago because I was reading about him and he asked who the man on the cover was...WOW!

That hike looks like so much fun! Awesome about Desmond Tutu! When are you coming to Spokane? I think it's this month?
I will be around that week. In fact, I'll even be in North Spokane all day Saturday. My mom is moving up to a new house by Mt. Spokane. If that day doesn't work, we can talk about another time.
Lions Gate is a beautiful park - I took the children there once for about an hour. Your blog made me want to go back with Carl and the kids - Carl has never been there.
